It is not just our famous food icons we are losing - it’s our language. I
am personally very concerned about the loss of our local words. Especially one
that particularly worries me is that “bloke” is now called “guy” as they do in
America, and “rubbish” is called “trash”. Worse still, “chips” are called
“fries”. I think we should start a move back to unique Australian words. I’m
thinking of awarding a yearly prize for the Aussie who’s most Australian in
accent and speech.
