What Economic Downturn?

DICK SMITH SAYS, “WHAT ECONOMIC DOWNTURN?”
Feeding Frenzy on Dick Smith Foods’ New Website Causes Crash
Dick Smith Foods launched their new Online General Store yesterday to the Australian public.
In the first hour of launch the site received an incredible 15,000 visitors and over 200,000 page visits with tens of thousands of other customers unable to even get on.
The immediate rush of traffic to the website caused their Sydney based servers to go into meltdown bringing down the Dick Smith Foods site and up to 100 other websites hosted on the same servers. “It was an absolute feeding frenzy from customers hungry to do their bit to support battling Australian farmers and food producers.” said Dick Smith.
“It’s just incredible” said Dick Smith. “The major supermarkets keep telling me that all Australian consumers want is the cheapest, yet in the space of an hour almost all our stock of magnificent Australian made gourmet products had sold out and our website had crashed due to the enormous number of customers fighting to place their orders for our premium range of Aussie products.”
The re-launch of Dick Smith Foods is the last throw of the dice for Dick Smith and his food business, and possibly Australia’s struggling food producers, as cheaper imported food products continue to decimate Australian farmers and food manufacturers. Dick is convinced that Australia grows the best food in the world and that Aussies would be prepared to pay a little bit extra for the best.
